BrainPop is an educational website with over 1,000 short animated movies for students in grades K-12, together with quizzes and related materials, covering all core subjects. These videos are informative, engaging, and help explain key concepts in a fun way. These videos serve as a springboard for other activities such as writing reports, debates and research essays.
Google Classroom is a comprehensive Learning Management System, or LMS. It allows for all homework and assignments to be posted and tracked. It sends notifications when assignments have been posted, graded or asked to be resubmitted. This system is where all content is delivered and available for review.
Quizlet is one of the core programs used to enforce spaced repetition and active recall - two key elements needed to both store and access new information. For both English and History, Quizlet is an invaluable resource allowing the recollection of new vocabulary and key historical events to be readily available.
Sadlier Connect provides a framework to help develop Common Core Standards (CCS) and to build vocabulary. Utilized by institutions around the world, students are tested on their ability to recall the definition, antonyms and synonyms, and to clearly identify what part of speech it is along with the ability to use it constructively.
EPIC! provides more than 14,000 e-book titles that can be used during our lessons. They include books for all ages no matter what genre your child is interested in, they will have access to level appropriate material. Through the screen share function of Zoom, books can be read together with certain passages or words being able to be highlighted and discussed.
Explain Everything is a fantastic resource where novels and textbooks can be analyzed in greater detail virtually. This takes away the need for writing on top of novels and textbooks and allowing notes to be detailed and readily available.
Zoom is a platform that allows digital learning to take place. Used by teachers all over the world it is highly regarded due to its ease of use. This system’s key function that we use is the student’s screen share option for when we are working with files that cannot be tracked in real time. Zoom is greatly enhanced with the use of STREAMLABS OBS which overrides the basic functionality through the use of a virtual camera.
TED and TED-Ed are where ideas are shared and curiosity is fueled. TED showcases the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less). These subjects range from technology, entertainment and design, science, business, global issues, the arts and more.
